Isabella Kinnick, "My art isn’t bound by a description of what it is. It simply exists. Through my love, passion, and connecting back to the fairytale roots of my childhood, inspiration and happiness are ever flowing. How I express the energetic, swirling ribbons of my imagination tends to begin with a physical copy, taking up residence on materials 2-D in nature, with components building themselves out of classic materials such as ink, paint, and graphite, a combination of collage techniques. I often end up screen printing and/or riso printing the finished art to create multiple editions. Themes of feminism, identity, personal experiences, the dual nature of our emotions, and the rage surrounding the past, present, and future that the divine feminine encapsulates all weave themselves together to form the body of my work. When
it comes to explanations beyond just the materials and content, nothing is ever still. My marks are always made with passion and purpose. You can’t look away, as there is always more to discover. Recently, I have been putting a large focus on creating comics, and have been very passionate about the beautiful nature of print and other material pieces of art (like book making, another one of my passions). It creates art that isn’t confined by the borders and boundaries that often appear as a result of the systems of hierarchy and categorization that we have developed as a society, like many institutionalized art spaces."
